Wahda
واحدة
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Wahda واحدة by SNX
The title can mean "one woman" or "one by one." Women come and go, one after another, and the speaker accuses the one he is addressing of hiding her lies inside real love, being at once all life, all death, all love and all fear. This accusation is the Arabic hook, repeated like a mantra. The English passages are a private confession: so many feelings kept bottled up, so much anxiety, never sleeping, watching others move on while he stays stuck with his old self, then a question to her: do you still feel it? An Arabic line adds that he is not happy and his eyes are dry.
Deeper meaning
Betrayal with love still in it, and a man who cannot move on. The mix of Arabic accusation and English confession creates two layers: what he says to her, and what he says to himself.
