From the song
Sadiq صدق by SNX
A woman's voice, in a Levantine and Egyptian mix, tells the story of a man whose apologies she keeps accepting. When he said he was telling the truth, she made up her mind to forgive him. When he mentioned another girl, she told herself he might have been careless. Then he came and confessed, and she excused him. When he saw how her heart had changed, he begged God to bring her back. His words were full of excuses about circumstances, and when he cried while lying, she was too ashamed to tell him she knew. People say time heals, but she says the lie stays and sharpens. In the chorus she tells him that tonight she is the one speaking, and that she does not want to hear a single word from him.
Deeper meaning
The title word means "truth" or "he told the truth", and the song is built on how often that word has been spent. It is a portrait of forgiveness running out: each earlier excuse is turned over in order, and the last verse is the moment she stops being the listener.
