Tajalli
تجلّي
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Tajalli تجلّي by SNX
The title means a revelation or unveiling. This is a Gulf/Egyptian-mixed rap about learning, discipline and being honest with yourself. He opens by asking God where He is in a strange day. He talks about fighting with himself and others, about everyone being tired, and about freedom lying in discipline. He welcomes the "new friend", meaning a new self, and admits what people told him turned out to be true. Wisdom, he says, is love and sacrifice. He describes his best phase as one where he still knows little, knows his abilities, can handle things, and keeps asking who his real friends are and who his inner enemies are, and how to live his own life instead of someone else's. The closing advice is that it is better to live your reality than imagine another, and that someone who tries to please everyone around him forgets himself.
Deeper meaning
Unveiling here means seeing yourself clearly: boundaries, discipline and refusing to live for approval. It stands apart from the cheerful songs with a rawer, spoken-word delivery.
