From the song
The Inner Light النور الداخلي by SNX
A walker crosses a dark country with no aim and no guide. Something faint stirs inside, a thin ray that calls, and it grows until it fills every corner of the self. The dark is washed out and the walker begins to dance with the light. The spirit lifts like incense, past time and place, and meets those who went before, waiting in a shadowed corridor and unveiling old secrets. A second scene follows: a body of dry sand, thirst burning the heart, a mirage that keeps tricking the eye. The walker takes one more step, then another, refuses to give in, and finds a deep well at the centre of the desert, which was inside all along. The desert turns to garden. A third scene opens on a sleeper stirred by the call of dawn.
Deeper meaning
A three-part spiritual journey: awakening, ascent and return. The light is not found outside. It is already within, and the lesson is to let it shine through you to others. The desert thirst and the hidden well say that what you seek is what you carry. The ancestors in the corridor give the piece a Sufi flavour, with the veil lifting and the self dissolving into oneness. Perseverance is the one virtue the song insists on.
