Book 04 · The Ordinary Miracle
Alf Bousa
ألف بوسة
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Alf Bousa ألف بوسة by SNX
A Moroccan and Egyptian love song about a night and a thousand kisses. It is midnight, the hour when joy arrives, with a hookah and coffee. He says nothing is left in his head, and he will take his friends and go home. People joke about a thousand kisses and laugh, and a mischievous girl who looks at him makes trouble for him. The hook lists what he needs: a kiss, a hug, a word of love. Love is the waves in our hearts and the birds rising in the sky, and love that leaves does not return, so he says come back. He will tell her everything about them, there will be no sleep tonight, and he will keep talking until sleep comes. They will cry and sleep and receive a thousand kisses, a thousand hugs and a thousand words of love.
Deeper meaning
The numbers carry the song: a thousand is a way of saying "all of it", the whole backlog of affection. The picture of a night spent talking until sleep wins is a gentle one, and the line about love that leaves not coming back adds a small warning to what is otherwise a party.
