Walk

A farewell with a hard edge. He tells someone to go and not look back. He used to think she was his shadow, but she turned out to follow the sun; each time he gave his heart it came back with a thousand cuts. Her eyes were a tempting promise, her voice broken speech, her laugh sweet like sugar and followed by poison. He says take your lies and go; he cannot bear more and will forget that he ever built a home in her. He lists how often he forgave and wiped his tears with his own hand, believing she would change, only to see her break him again. He looks in the mirror and does not recognise himself. Now he opens his eyes to the truth, no longer fears loneliness, and chooses his own road, leaving the past behind. Her way is hers, his way is his, and he will be fine without her. The English hook tells her not to turn around.
