Rizq
رزق
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Rizq رزق by SNX
An Egyptian-Arabic and English song about love as something that arrives by itself. The English hook says it plainly, that love is spontaneous and not in our hands, and the Arabic repeats that love is a provision from God, not something we plan, and that we only have to look for it. It comes in its own time and its own place. You can be next to the person you love and neither of you feels the other. When it is real, though, their love is paradise or there is no life after it. In the second half she says he looks at her strangely, that she moves with the wind, that she is very ordinary unlike him, and that loving him is easy. Neither of them is on the ground and neither is in the sky, and she asks why her life has changed so much.
Deeper meaning
The title word means "daily provision", the sort of gift that is outside our control, and the song applies it to love. The idea is gentle fatalism: you can search, but you cannot make it happen. The last image, living neither on the ground nor in the sky, describes the dizziness of the thing once it has.
