From the song
Qumi Yalla قومي يلا by SNX
An Egyptian street-style song with a story that is hard to pin down. A woman is told to get up, come on, and put on her shawl, because of what the beloved has done: the foolish boy has left her. She tells him he is everything and she is nothing, and that she has lived her life in a circle, and he wants her to turn like a waterwheel in a full sea. She asks him to let her go so that he can sail with someone else, and says what they need is a ship.
Deeper meaning
The shawl and the call to stand up make it a song of getting back on your feet after being left. The waterwheel and the circle are images of being stuck, and the ship is the way out. The tone is wry and bouncy, with the grief held in the images and not in the delivery.
