From the song
Ma Zilt ما زلت by SNX
A Moroccan song of endurance. He is still living, still feeling choked in his own chest, his head gone, his mouth closed, patient under the blows. He is still fighting a world that turned on him. Time circles him, he ran after it and it came to him. Through all of it he keeps saying thank God, and he asks for mercy and for protection, again and again. Then the song turns to a person. He wanted her, she is on his mind, and he is melting in her beauty at night. He asks how long she has been away and where she went, tells her his heart has dissolved, and asks her to say what she is doing, why she is moving away from him. It was a dream to live with her for a whole lifetime. The title word, "still", runs through the end as a chant.
Deeper meaning
Two kinds of survival share the song. The first is survival of hardship through gratitude and prayer. The second is survival of a loss through longing. "Still" means he is not finished: still choking, still thankful, still wanting. The prayer lines make the heartbreak read as one more thing to endure with patience.
