Khallik
خليك
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Khallik خليك by SNX
A short, insistent plea in Moroccan and Egyptian Arabic. The title is a single command, stay. Come with me, don't be far, stay. I want you, you are the medicine for my heart, my life. Let us live the love of God every day, stay here with me. Cheers of yes punctuate the beat, as though the crowd were answering.
Deeper meaning
It is the simplest idea in the catalogue, love as asking someone to remain. The phrase about living by the love of God every day lifts the request from a romantic clinch to something close to a vow. It also shares its chorus with the second half of Ihna, so the two songs may have been cut from the same session, with Khallik as the love half of that swagger song.
