From the song
Janani جناني by SNX
A song that begins as a love complaint and becomes a family portrait. In the first half he tells his beloved that he blames nothing except his own madness. The careless heart he tortured once has paid for it. He asks why she always accuses him, when his heart is drowning and every kind of love has left him confused. He is waiting for mercy. In the second half the camera pulls back. He says that what we call the enemy is our brother, and the brother is the enemy. We have eaten a lot of bread without knowing whether it was lawful. His children dream of leaving the house, and the household is quietly coming apart. The title word returns at the end like a stuck door.
Deeper meaning
The word has two senses, my madness and my garden, and the song uses both. First it is love as madness, then the closed garden of a home that is no longer safe. The shift from the beloved to the family is unusual on this channel. It makes the song about a man whose private heartbreak is the symptom of a wider unravelling: money of doubtful origin, children who want out, a household losing its centre.
