Jamal جمال by SNX
A romantic tribute to a woman's beauty in Levantine and Egyptian Arabic. The beauty of the universe and the long nights, he says, he wants to pick and paint on her cheek like fire. Whatever the heart resists, whatever time puts in the way, this beauty is not just for the night. Every morning people ask him her name and he gives them wrong answers; however he imagines her, the real one is sweeter. He offers to write her a chance and says people sing about her. Night puts kohl in her eyes, his heart has travelled to her, and he asks to be loved and to be covered, protected. The moon is high, there is a rose over her head, and her hair is not a small thing; the moon loves the breeze and the sun belongs to his beloved.
Deeper meaning
Classic Arab love imagery (moon, kohl, rose, sun) with a playful private touch: he hides her name from the world. Light and sweet.
