A Levantine and Egyptian love-and-recovery song. When all he wanted was a laugh, a dream that flies, and a life with no ache. Someone passed by, from far away, and then came carrying her eyes; her hand held his and it was no ordinary thing. Since he opened his eyes he has seen hope as real. She said their dream was far; he said nothing is far, and the road is easier with company. Days together feel like a dream, each day sweeter than the last. The second voice, Levantine, tells a darker story: when he wanted a smile, people said tears would bring relief and he would become what he wanted. Walking at night, lost, he fell asleep and woke to find everything changed, wondering if he had imagined it all. Nobody tells the truth, and he cannot believe it. Under the clouds on his smile, he feels trapped, wants to be out in the world, and asks who would hear him if he screamed.
