From the song
Bil Rouh بالروح by SNX
A homesick Levantine love song whose hook is a promise to give one's soul and face for a voice that calls. The speaker keeps hearing the beloved calling and asks where she is. The verses widen into a picture of home: a house over there, under the rock that watched his fire in the cold, between the chest and the camp by the river that watered a thirsty soul. He asks her to gather her people in the shade and lets him sing a long song of patience that has lasted too long. He praises her light in the sky, her olive-and-flower beauty, and the way she turns his thoughts to poetry.
Deeper meaning
The beloved and the homeland blur together. Her voice is also the voice of a place he cannot return to, so the longing has two objects. The river, the rock and the olives are the stock images of the Levant, and they give the song a feeling of exile as much as romance.
