Aldounia
الدنيا
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Aldounia الدنيا by SNX
A lament in Egyptian and Gulf-tinged Arabic. Since you left, the world has gone travelling and the night is cruel. Hope was lost, joy was lost, and many things were lost with you: the heart's peace, innocent days, a happiness that life ruined in a single glance. All the sorrows of the world sit on top of each other in his chest, even the flames that split his heart, and every friend left after her. Sorrow is a cloud with no rain, and the one who is still awake. He cannot explain it, but two words say it: the world went away with you. Then a flashback: a world of tenderness, rosy days, the scent of flowers; she was his time, his laugh, his festival, his tear, his smile; their love was a paradise, and they lived in the house of their hearts. Sadly, things changed. He asks her not to abandon the last memory.
Deeper meaning
Grief for a love that was once a whole world. The structure, a long complaint answered by one short summing line, is the strongest part. It recalls old Egyptian and Gulf ballads.
