Al Mashriq Khoosh
لمشرق خوش
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Al Mashriq Khoosh لمشرق خوش by SNX
A playful, half-spoken party song in a mix of Egyptian and Maghrebi phrases. A friendly voice addresses a gentleman and says the East is good, and a stream of blessings follows: God bless you, God keep him for us and for his children, amen. The refrain repeats that the sun sets in the West, but the line keeps landing on the East, as if the singer is teasing the listener to catch the slip.
Deeper meaning
Less a story than a toast. The East is praised in the title, and the mix of dialects stages Egypt and North Africa meeting on one dance floor. The sunset joke is probably an intentional wink.
