Al Jamal
الجمال

From the song
Al Jamal الجمال by SNX
A Moroccan Darija track that tells a story in spoken form. The refrain begs a woman not to say "nobody can change you," because she has changed him; he asks her to stop, to look at him, and see him in her films. The middle of the song is a monologue: let me tell you about a woman I met, the likes of whom I have never seen in my life. The day he saw her, a friend in Casablanca told him to have a late meal with her and afterwards go to a bar, where he would meet someone who would keep him sleepless just by hearing her voice and her words. The woman is known from Rabat to Meknes, though in the bar he only sees her through glass. Everyone around her he does not know, but he knows them the moment he hears them sing.
Deeper meaning
The song builds the myth of a singer or bar performer, a woman seen through glass and known by voice. It is a story about fame and distance, and the spoken part makes it feel like a short film.
