From the song

Hal هل by SNX

A song of escape and belonging, mostly in formal Arabic with a Moroccan section. The speaker says that wherever he goes he finds himself at home, however long the separation or deep the sadness, and that when he finds a reader of his country, he holds his homeland in his hands. He asks whether she wants to come with him: at night they could slip out of the butterfly trap, and he would take her far away, to a place where they can live as free as they like. Another verse admits the opposite fear. He once passed by her without looking or speaking, to test what life would be like without seeing her. He imagines the moment he could leave, and says that if she comes they would be free and she would never need him again. He still hears the voices of the people behind them and feels their steps. The Moroccan end counts one, two, three, and talks about a house in a city, and the wind.

Deeper meaning

The song ties love and homeland together: being with her is the same as being at home. The invitation to slip away at night is a fantasy of freedom, and the confession that he once tested the silence shows the fear that sits under the fantasy.
