Gate of the Soul
باب الروح
Poems inspired by SNX's songs, retold by AIA Labs.
From the song
Gate of the Soul باب الروح by SNX
A prayer set to a house arrangement, in Egyptian-leaning Arabic with an English fragment. He woke at night with eyes thirsty after the dust of the world and the dust inside the soul, and his heart said: return to the one who made you. The reply is a whisper that says, I am here, I am not going anywhere. He asks for the gate of the soul to be opened and for light to enter. When he is afraid, something overwhelms him with wonder; each time he falls, a hand reaches out from far away, gathers his wounds, and teaches him how to return. He asks for mercy even if his tongue is slow to pray, because the One he calls knows the weakness of his heart. The final address is to the one who is in the heart and also near.
Deeper meaning
A devotional song about turning back to God from the exhaustion of daily life. It has the closest feel to a Sufi supplication in the catalogue. If it is used on the site, it should be introduced as devotional music, because its audience is different from the motivational songs.
